An Ansible is the theoretical device capable of faster-than-light
communication. The word was first used by Ursula K. Le Guin in 1966, but
has since been used by many science fiction writers, including Orson Scott
Card. Ansible has a funny anagram.
I never liked the name xPortal, the original name 'portal' was placed
there when the website was still a static html page, that only I saw. I
only added the x so that I could develop the new version in a different
folder while keeping the old version online, so I always thought of it as
a temporary name. I'm going to add some new features to go along
with this name change, but for the larger part this is just
a boring re-branding. I've been tweaking this website for a long
time now, so I figured it deserved a real name.
